Asbestosis, mesothelioma, or other diseases related to asbestos continue to plague our society. These conditions have devastating repercussions, claiming an estimated 4,000 lives annually – and, in many cases, those deaths could have been prevented.

At Seth Lovis & Co, we specialise in securing compensation awards for clients diagnosed with asbestosis. To find out how our team of solicitors could benefit you, get in touch with them today on 0370 218 4025.

What is asbestosis?

Described by the NHS as a "chronic lung condition", asbestosis is an illness caused by inhaling excessive amounts of asbestos fibres. When this occurs, the tissues which surround the lungs can become scarred, resulting in individuals often developing a persistent cough or experiencing shortness of breath.

Other signs of asbestosis can include:

  • Fatigue
  • Chest pains
  • Difficultly breathing

These symptoms will not develop immediately after coming into contact with asbestos fibres. Signs can become apparent up to 30 years after initial exposure. Therefore, this means – despite legislation prohibiting the use of asbestos in 1999 – that those who used this material decades ago might still be in danger of suffering adverse effects.

Sadly, there is no treatment for asbestosis. Instead, any forms of therapy are designed to help a person come to terms with their condition, and ease symptoms. For example, the NHS states that oxygen therapy can often prove greatly beneficial.

At Seth Lovis & Co, our team of solicitors realise the effects that asbestosis can have – and will strive to help sufferers obtain maximum compensation. This can provide some form of justice, as well as help to cover the costs of rehabilitation and therapy. Following a successful claim, our clients could see substantial improvements in their quality of life.
