Amanda joined Seth Lovis & Co in 2012. She specialises in industrial disease litigation and has particular expertise in noise-induced deafness cases.
Originally qualifying as a lawyer in her native New Zealand Amanda retrained in the UK and qualified as a solicitor in 2005.
At her previous firm, she assisted the partner who ran a groundbreaking claim against Ford Motor Company (Coffin, Tarrant v Ford Motor Company 2008) which established a precedent in noise-induced hearing loss cases as to the ability of claimants to seek special damages awards for hearing aids.
Amanda spent a number of years working with various unions to represent individuals during a variety of claims. As a result, she gained experience of the issues relating to a number of different types of industries and work environments.
Amanda says, “I do this work because I enjoy sticking up for my clients who are suffering symptoms that may well be due to their former employer’s negligence, but who might lack the necessary technical knowledge to pursue a claim on their own. I find my job worthwhile whenever I get to pass on to my client a cheque for compensation. “
Represented a client who worked for many decades as a driver of lorries that were not fitted with noise-deadening materials.
Represented a client who developed both noise induced hearing loss and vibration white finger syndrome, as a result of his work repairing railways.
Represented a client who developed hearing loss as a result of using grinding tools in a metal workshop many decades ago.
