Industrial Disease

Shikha joined Seth Lovis & Co Solicitors in May 2015 and is currently working in the industrial disease department. She works predominantly on noise induced hearing loss claims.

On completion of her undergraduate degree in law (LLB) at Sheffield Hallam University, Shikha undertook the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in Leeds. She then relocated from Yorkshire to London in 2010 to join a firm of solicitors in Putney.  While there, she completed her training contract and worked in areas including personal injury, clinical negligence and industrial disease.

Following qualification in clinical negligence, Shikha was one of the employees at the forefront of setting up a dedicated department for this specialism in 2012. She has experience of dealing with claims against the NHSLA, GP’s, nurses and dentists and other medical professions where a patient has suffered injury as a result of substandard medical treatment arising from a failure and/or delay in diagnosis, incorrect diagnosis and/or a failure to refer and provide treatment within the necessary time frames.

Shikha then moved into the industrial disease department where she now predominantly handles noise-induced hearing loss and vibration white finger claims. She has considerable experience in handling fast track and multi-track industrial deafness claims on behalf of claimants and uses her in-depth experience of handling complex issues of liability, medical causation and quantum to ensure that claims reach a satisfactory conclusion. She has a good working knowledge of the CPR and is a confident litigator, able to conduct cases to a trial.

She says, "It makes my job extremely worthwhile when I am able to assist a client in pursuing a claim through to successful completion and help them to obtain a settlement which meets or exceeds their expectations."

Cases Shikha has recently settled

Shikha recently settled a claim against Smith’s Docks Limited in which she received an admission from the defendant and a very satisfactory award for the client without the involvement of any court proceedings.
